Amber Regan

Amber Lee Mary Regan, 38, of West Des Moines passed from this world Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Friends and family were received September 12 at Ankeny Funeral Home & Crematory in Ankeny. A funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 9 at 9:30 a.m at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Lycurgus in rural Waukon.

Amber was born May 18, 1983 in Waukon, the daughter of Ron and Mary Regan. Amber had the most beautiful smile that brought joy to everyone who experienced it. She loved her family and friends fiercely and always took the extra time and effort to ensure they knew how important they were to her, with a phone call to stay in touch, a text, a beautifully crafted letter, or a gift she took the time to create herself.

Amber loved to write poetry, paint and knit blankets, scarves and hats. Her timeless beauty and personal style and taste could not be matched as her life-long goal was to make the world a beautiful place for everyone.

After graduating from Waukon High School, Amber attended the University of Northern Iowa and graduated in 2006 with a degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. After graduation, Amber moved to Des Moines and started working at Wells Fargo as an Implementation Analyst. In 2009, she began working at Mosaic as a Direct Support Manager and then went back to Wells Fargo in 2011 as a Learning and Development Facilitator.

These roles reignited Amber’s love of learning and she decided to go back to school and work toward a career in technology. Amber was attending Des Moines Area Community College and pursuing a degree in Cyber-Security Studies while working as an IT intern at the Iowa Office of the Chief Information Officer.

Amber was preceded in death by her grandparents, John M. Clauson, William M. and Angella Regan, and Lloyd Schulte. She leaves behind her parents, Ron and Mary; her sister, Angela (Brentt York); her brothers, Dane (Cassie Reed) and Drew (Danya Christianson); her grandmother, Ruth Anne Schulte; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that a donation be made in Amber’s name to Meals from the Heartland (mealsfromtheheartland.org).

Here she rests, a poet, daughter, sister, lover, friend, adventurer and knowledge seeker. One to whom each moment mattered.

Sometimes I let go
and when I do,
I fly
Into arms of infinity;
the vastness is hypnotizing.
I am entranced.
All is open to me.
All is infinite
And I can only admire.
Sit in this time of the moment
Absorb;
Soak in this infinite opening
Put forth hope and love
That this is a true new
beginning
And watch it all
Unfold.
