The Waukon volleyball team played to a nearly undefeated week, coming up just shy of that unblemished mark in its final match of the week to currently hold an 11-8 season record that includes an even, 1-1 start to the Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) season. The Lady Indians began the week with a four-set triumph at home over Charles City Tuesday, September 14 by scores of 25-18, 19-25, 25-19 and 25-13.

The net Tribe then wrapped up the week hosting its own home tournament, playing all the way to the tournament championship match but falling in that event finale to fellow NEIC squad Decorah by scores of 13-21 and 12-21. The Indians had played their way to an initial pool championship with three match wins, 21-7 and 21-14 over Postville, 18-21, 21-11 and 15-9 over Central Elkader, and 21-13 and 21-15 over Spring Grove, MN, before matching up again with Spring Grove in their first bracket match of the tournament, where they needed three sets, 21-16, 21-23 and 15-11, to earn their tournament championship berth.

The Indians were next scheduled to play at Crestwood Tuesday, September 21 before playing back-to-back matches at home to start next week, hosting MFL/MarMac Monday, September 27 and then Decorah Tuesday, September 28 and then playing in the Waterloo Columbus Tournament Saturday, October 2. The net Tribe will then play at new Hampton Tuesday, October 5.
