Waukon girls basketball team falls a bit short at home in NEIC play against Decorah, 63-56, prior to this year’s holiday break

The Waukon girls basketball team had just one game on its schedule this past week heading into the holiday break, that being a home Northeast Iowa Conference contest against Decorah Tuesday, December 21. Playing the visiting Vikings even in each of the latter quarters in the game’s two halves, those even frames were not enough to overcome the slight Decorah advantages in both the first and third periods of the contest that ultimately led to a 63-56 Indian defeat.

Heading into the holidays with a 3-5 season record that includes a 1-2 start to their Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) schedule, the Indians were scheduled to return to action after the holidays Monday, January 3 when they host Kee before hosting a January 6 make-up date with Crestwood from back in mid-December, traveling to Charles City Friday, January 7 and then playing Wapsie Valley at Upper Iowa University in Fayette Saturday, January 8. The Waukon girls will then host La Crescent, MN Tuesday, January 11 before traveling to Crestwood Friday, January 14.
