Believed to be first woman in state of Iowa to serve as both General Manager and Golf Pro

Morgan McMillan is blazing new trails, as she has been named General Manager/Golf Professional at Oneota Golf & Country Club in Decorah. She is the first woman General Manager/Golf Professional in Oneota’s 100-year history.

McMillan is one of only nine women Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) club professionals in the state of Iowa, and is believed to be the only one of those women to also serve as General Manager of her 18-hole club. She is truly considered a pioneer among women golf professionals in Iowa.

“Morgan has the highest in quality hospitality skills; is high energy and hardworking; has an infectious smile and has received overwhelming support from the Oneota membership to be awarded the position of General Manager,” shared Oneota Golf and Country Club Board of Directors President Andy Nelson.

Oneota Golf & Country Club is a semi-private 18-hole golf course nestled alongside the Upper Iowa River in the scenic rolling hills of northeast Iowa where one can golf among nearby wildlife, fishermen, canoers and kayakers alike. Oneota Golf and Country Club offers a full-service pro shop and private golf instruction with its very own PGA professional.

Since graduating from Wartburg College in Waverly in 2015, McMillan has been Assistant Manager and PGA Professional at Oneota Golf and Country Club. She has also served as Assistant Women’s Golf Coach at Luther College in Decorah.

At Wartburg, the 2011 graduate of Waukon High School and four-time All-Northeast Iowa Conference honoree earned All-Iowa Conference honors three times, placing ninth (2011), second (2013) and third (2014) at the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Championships. She also earned Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-Midwest Region honors as a senior. She helped lead Wartburg to four conference championships and four trips to the NCAA III National Tournament.

McMillan brings her Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration, a strong golf background and seven years of management experience to her new role as Oneota’s General Manager. As the club’s PGA professional, she is passionate about helping her members build their golf fundamentals and enjoy the game of golf.
