Larry Evans

Larry Bruce Evans, age 80, of the Solway Community in Knoxville, TN passed away Saturday morning, September 17, 2022 at Parkwest Medical Center (Knoxville). He was surrounded by his family as he was welcomed into the arms of his Savior and Lord.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 21 at the Click Funeral Home Middlebrook Chapel in Knoxville, TN with a Celebration of Life to follow at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Clay Harrington officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Child Advocacy Center of the Ninth Judicial District of Tennessee, www.kidsfirsttn.org.

Larry was born October 16, 1941 in Waukon. Of the four brothers, he was the second oldest. Larry played all sports throughout his formative school years and was a talented athlete. He was an avid golfer and loved bowling. For many years, Larry served as a walking score keeper for the Knoxville Open on the Nike Tour.

Larry was a member of Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church, and a former member, Elder and Sunday School teacher of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Kingston, TN. Also, Larry served as an Elder with the Brushy Mountain Prison Ministry. Larry’s servant heart actively sought to fill the needs of those less fortunate. Larry’s gift of love and care to those he knew and those unknown to him is a legacy his family will always treasure.

Larry retired from Union Carbide/Martin Marietta after 24 years of service. Larry worked as a Machinist and served his country through this profession. During his many years of employment, at Y-12 and K-25, Larry served as a Union Steward. He was a proud member of the Cold War Patriots.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester John Evans and Jean Audrey Folsom Evans Berge; his son, Mark Robinson; and his brothers, Grant L. Evans of Texas and Gayle K. Evans of Iowa.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen Brown Evans; his children, Christine Marie (Warren) Longmire of Knoxville, TN, Larry Scott (Leah) Evans of Kings Mountain, NC, David Bruce (Kelly) Evans of Knoxville, TN and Robin (Brad) Lefler of Knoxville, TN; 12 grandchildren; his brother, Neil (Malinda) Evans of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
