Everett Stahl

Everett L. Stahl, 93, of Lansing died Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Graveside services with military honors will be held Wednesday, November 16 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing. Friends may greet the family from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 15 at Thornburg - Grau Funeral Home in Lansing.

Everett Leroy Stahl was born June 10, 1929 in Rossville, the son of Richard and Vernie (Rush) Stahl. He graduated from Lansing High School in 1947, and served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953, during the Korean War.

February 18, 1955, he married Jean Ann Middendorf at the Presbyterian Church in Lansing. Everett worked as a shift supervisor at Interstate Power Plant in Lansing for 38 years and retired in 1991.

Everett was a member of the VFW Post 5981 in Lansing and the Masonic lodge. He enjoyed spending time at the shack with family and friends and loved giving rides in his 1966 Ford Bronco. He also enjoyed traveling, hunting, and especially fishing - setting trotlines for catfish, using a trammel net, and doing some commercial fishing.

Survivors include his children: Pam (Ed) Strong of New Albin, Tim (Betsy) Stahl of Lansing, Mark Stahl of Waterville, Doug (Kris) Stahl of St. Louis Park, MN and Tom Stahl of Dakota, MN; four grandchildren: Emily (Chris) Welsh, and Sydney, Alyssa and Zach Stahl; four brothers: Lester (Betty) Stahl of Waukon and George, Allen and Gary Stahl, all of Lansing; a sister-in-law, Harriet Stahl of Ham Lake, MN; and a brother-in-law. Jerry Mathis of Waterville.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean Ann, who died in 2016; four sisters: Jean Ann Fahey, Karen Mathis, Loretta May Strong and Alice Strong; one brother, Robert Stahl; three brothers-in-law, Merlin Strong, Norbert Strong and Paul Fahey; and two sisters-in-law, Judy and Mabel Stahl.
