The Waukon Wellness Center welcomes everyone to celebrate the facility’s 15-year anniversary. The celebration is currently taking place within the Wellness Center this week, November 14-18, with activities such as free walking each day until 3 p.m., free exercise classes and daycare, 15% off all punch cards, a Veterans Day celebration with free gifts for those who served their country, member appreciation day, wellness testing compliments of Veterans Memorial Hospital, free daily prizes with a grand prize of a one-year membership, and so much more.

The Center originally opened November 15, 2007 with a goal to provide community wellness and improve and maintain the health of local residents. Today there are over 1,000 members, with the facility experiencing daily use from people of all ages.

The facility provides a wide variety of group exercise classes, including 25 classes a week. Instructors, some of whom are pictured at right, are experienced, well qualified and willing to work with class participants at whatever level they are willing to try. Personal training is also available to assist in meeting most anyone’s fitness goals.

The spacious building includes numerous weight and cardio machines and strength training equipment, a large exercise room, track and sports courts, a cycling studio, racquetball court, bouncy house, babysitting room, a rock climbing wall and more. Pickleball courts and equipment are available to accommodate what has become a daily routine for many members of the community and surrounding areas.

The Center is open to everyone, young and old. Not a Waukon resident? No problem! The center is open for all to use.

The Center also offers flexibility in its availability. Visitors can come early in the morning before work, later in the morning to socialize, or in the afternoon or evening for some quieter hours. Whatever works for whatever is needed.

Membership information can be found on the Wellness Center website, www.waukonwellness.com; the Center’s Facebook page: Waukon Wellness Center; or stop in and speak to one of the helpful staff members. Tours of the facility are also available. The Wellness Center is open Monday-Friday from 5 a.m.-8 p.m. and has varying weekend hours throughout the year. During the month of November, the Center will be open Saturdays from 7 a.m.-12 p.m. and Sundays from 12-4 p.m.

The Wellness Center does also offer the opportunity for 24/7 access that can be added onto a punch card or a membership. Access includes use of all cardio equipment (for those seventh grade and older), strength training equipment (again, for those seventh grade and older), the sports courts (basketball, volleyball, tennis courts, racquetball and pickleball courts), batting and golf cages, the exercise room with all associated equipment, and the walking/running track.

After its first 15 years of success, the Center continues to be a pillar of support for those in the community whose aim is to live a healthier lifestyle. The year-round, convenient access and different price plans allow a variety of individuals from all the surrounding areas to take advantage of this valuable resource. To become one of them, or to have any questions answered regarding what the Wellness Center has to offer, stop in during the Center’s open hours or call 563-568-0074.
