Can, bottle redemption drive will benefit Waukon High School Post Prom

A can and bottle redemption drive is now underway to benefit the Post Prom event that takes place each year after the Waukon High School Prom. This year’s Prom is scheduled for Saturday, April 22 at Waukon High School.

The can and bottle drive is being conducted through Waukon Redemption, located at 707 West Main Street in Waukon. Everyone is encouraged to redeem their cans and bottles at that location during its open hours of Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Saturdays from 8-10 a.m. However, Waukon Redemption will be closed this Saturday, February 18 (see advertisement below).

Those bringing cans or bottles for the purpose of benefiting Waukon Post Prom must bring their redemptions inside the building and specifically mention they are being redeemed to benefit Waukon Post Prom. The money from those cans and bottles will then be set aside in an account specifically for Waukon Post Prom. This can and bottle redemption drive to benefit Waukon Post Prom will be in place throughout each year in order to benefit the program now and into the future as well.

Per Waukon Redemption policy, all glass bottles being redeemed must be in cardboard boxes in order to be accepted. Waukon Redemption also encourages all cans brought in to be in clear plastic bags, which are available for purchase from Waukon Redemption or at local grocery stores.

Coming soon will be a can and bottle drop-off site at the former Mulligan’s Grill Pub vacant lot along Rossville Road. A wagon is expected to be placed at that lot for placement of cans and bottles according to the guidelines outlined above, with all those redeemed cans and bottles benefiting Waukon High School Post Prom. That drop-off site is expected to be in place soon and remain through this year’s Waukon High School Prom.
