Susan Stanton O'Connor

Susan Stanton O’Connor, 83, of Bellevue, WA passed away peacefully in her sleep February 8, 2023 after battling lymphoma and dementia. A small private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Old Friends Club (welcome@oldfriendsclub.org), a dementia support group.

Susan was born June 14, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Erma Beryl Jones and James J. Stanton. The family moved to Waukon, where Susan attended school through grade 11. She moved to California and graduated from Tustin High School in 1957. Susan went on to graduate from Bellevue College as a Registered Nurse. She also spent over 20 years working for Sno-Isle Libraries as a library assistant at Mukilteo, WA.

In 1958, Susan married Thomas Joseph O’Connor and had three children, Patrick, Timothy and Carolyn. They later divorced and Susan met the love of her life, Gregory Warren Taylor. Greg and Susan remained together for over five decades and finally married January 16, 2021.

Susan had many passions and interests including sailing, genealogy, wild mushroom foraging and folk dancing. She also traveled to many countries by plane, boat and Volvo. Susan and Greg were always busy planning their next adventure! Susan was a kind soul who volunteered for many organizations like the U.S. Census, WIC, Planned Parenthood. She loved to laugh and spread her good nature. She was inquisitive, curious, determined and an animal lover.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Erma and James Stanton; her son, Timothy O’Connor; and her nephew, Jamie Stanton. She is survived by her husband, Greg Taylor; her son, Patrick O’Connor; her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Dave Christensen; her brother, James J. Stanton; and her grandson, Timothy, his wife, Tammy, and their children (her great-grandsons), Trey and Tyler O’Connor; as well as many other extended friends and family.
