Doris Ripp

Doris M. Ripp, 93, of De Soto, WI died Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Memorial services will be held Friday, April 14 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Charles Church in Genoa, WI, with Father Sedlacek officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the charity of your choosing. Thornburg - Grau Funeral Home in Lansing is handling the arrangements.

Doris Mae Wermuth Ripp was born in Madison, WI February 9, 1930, the daughter of Frances (Vassen) and Raymond Wermuth. She was the eldest of three daughters including Phyllis (deceased 1940) and Shirley (William) Beyer. She attended Wisconsin High School and secondary school in Madison as well.

Doris was a secretary for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She met her future husband, James Ripp, through mutual friends and they were married October 8, 1955 at Our Lady Peace Catholic Church in Madison, WI.

Doris had an inquisitive mind and had a number of areas that kept her mind engaged. She was an avid quilter, winning first place at the Wisconsin State Fair for Best Quilt. She was an enthusiastic reader and encouraged others to read, always having recommendations. Doris was a member of the Red Hat Society as well as the local Lions Club. Doris was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Doris is survived by her husband, James; her three children: Susan (Barry) Baird, Timothy (Terri) Ripp and Kenneth (Carrie) Ripp; five grandchildren: Erin (Brent) Conrad, Jessica (Christopher) Williams, Sara Nelson, Ashley (Troy) Knox and Jacob Ripp; and eight great-grandchildren: Lincoln Conrad, Elena and Hudson Williams, Addie and Crosby Nelson, and Jayden, Parker and Logan Knox.
