Waukon High School graduating senior Katerina Kovarik was recently honored as a member of the 2023 “Best of the Class”. KWWL and the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) recognized valedictorians or top graduating seniors from across eastern Iowa at a celebration held Saturday, April 29 at the McLeod Center on the UNI campus in Cedar Falls. Kovarik is pictured in the center of the above photo with (left to right) KWWL Sports Director Rick Coleman, news anchors Collin Dorsey and Ron Steele, and Chief Meteorologist Mark Schnackenberg.
KWWL Vice President and General Manager John Huff noted, “KWWL is proud to be associated with an event that shines a light on these outstanding students, their families, and schools.” In addition to the opportunity to be photographed with the KWWL television news personalities pictured above, the “Best of the Class” students were also recorded for a series of promotional announcements that will air on KWWL, and will also be available for viewing at KWWL.com. In its 39 years of recognizing academic excellence, KWWL’s “Best of the Class” has honored over 4,800 top graduating seniors.
