Two local high school graduates were among the six students awarded a Hauschild Memorial Scholarship from Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative (ACEC), Postville. This year, ACEC awarded over $4,000 in scholarships to recipients planning to continue their education in the electrical field.

Colby Brainard, Waukon High School, and Owen Schobert, Kee High School, were both awarded $750 scholarships from the Co-op. Brainard is the son of Jessica and Jeremiah Brainard. He plans to attend Northwest Iowa Community College for Lineman school. Schobert is the son of Sharlene and Trever Schobert. He plans to attend Northwest Iowa Community College for the Industrial and Commercial Wiring program.

The Hauschild Scholarship Fund was established in 1995 in memory of Robert “Bill” Hauschild by his wife and family. This scholarship is provided in recognition of Bill’s service as a board member from his election in 1988, until his death that took place March 17, 1993. Scholarships are open to graduating high school seniors in Allamakee-Clayton Electric’s service area and are available to students who are entering a course of study within the electric field.

Allamakee-Clayton Electric Cooperative also awarded four additional scholarships to students in surrounding communities in the ACEC service area. Those other scholarship recipients include Ludwin Lopez of Postville High School, who plans to attend Northeast Iowa Community College for the Industrial Electrician program; Brock Eglseder of Central Elkader High School, who plans to attend Northeast Iowa Community College for the Industrial Electrician program; Ashton Thiese of Clayton Ridge High School, who plans to attend Southwest Wisconsin Technical College for Electrical Power Distribution; and Austin Schlee of MFL/MarMac High School, who plans to attend Iowa Central Community College for Electrical Technologies.
