Clem B. Schulte, 59, of Lansing died Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, December 2 at St. Ann’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry with Fr. Joseph Sevcik officiating.

Clement Benedict Schulte was born November 24, 1965, in Prairie du Chien, WI, to Clem and Arlene (Gavin) Schulte. He was baptized and confirmed at St Ann’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry. Clem graduated from Waukon High School in 1984, and then received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa in 1990.
Clem had a lifetime passion for farming. With the help of his kids, he was able to grow and diversify the family farm. He enjoyed spending his free time “relaxing” by cutting wood, mowing grass, watching the cattle, or gazing over the farm from the deck.
Clem was often found outdoors; hunting was a favorite activity. Starting as a young boy, he built strong bonds with his father, brother, and Harpers Ferry friends. This passion was passed onto his children with many memories being made with family and close friends during his annual deer camp. He could also be found hunting or relaxing on the Mississippi River. As an avid Iowa State fan, he enjoyed attending athletic events no matter the temperature.
Clem was able to build a strong knowledge of business and finance throughout his lifetime. He started his professional career in the retirement and investment industry. After 14 years, he transitioned his interest in farming and business to a lifelong role in banking; this allowed him to move his family to Lansing and further expand his farming operation. After multiple years with Kerndt Brothers Savings Bank as Market President, Clem eventually took on the challenge of Chief Credit Officer with Peoples State Bank in Prairie du Chien, WI. Clem’s hard work and determination was seen by many.
Clem is survived by his children: Cody (Tia) of Santa Teresa, NM, and Casey of Harpers Ferry from his first marriage to Lori (Stenberg) Davis of Waverly; and Ryan, William, Jackson, and Elena from his second marriage to Heather Lutz of Lansing. He is also survived by five siblings: Shirley (Dan) Harwood of Prairie du Chien, WI, Betty Irons of Waukon, Jenny Schulte of La Crosse, WI, and Marita (Tom) Clark and Dan Schulte, both of Harpers Ferry. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Karen Schulte.
Honorary casketbearers were Mike Gavin, Kevin Loy, Bill Saddler, Joe Saddler, Dan Schulte, and Kevin Simpson. Clem’s children served as casketbearers.
