Dave Duncklee

The Northeast Iowa community mourns the loss of Dave Duncklee, 84, who passed away peacefully in a Florida hospital following a significant brain bleed. His high school sweetheart, Cheryl, was by his side for 62 years. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

A beloved educator, Mr. Duncklee dedicated 32 years to inspiring young minds as a Physics and Chemistry teacher at Waukon Senior High School (1965-1997). Beyond education, he dedicated himself to public service, serving on the Allamakee County Board of Supervisors and the County Zoning Commission. He also played a key role in establishing the Driftless Area Education and Visitors Center in Lansing, and served his community through organizations like the Boy Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Jaycees, Lions Club, and Kiwanis.

A lifelong outdoorsman, Mr. Duncklee found solace and spirituality in nature. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, particularly for Walleye.

Mr. Duncklee was a proud mentor, cherishing the successes of his Eagle Scouts and the achievements of his former students. He lived a life of honor, inspiring those around him with his kindness, dedication, and commitment to his community.

He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the countless lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl; his children, Michelle (Joe) Ridgeway and Mitch (Maureen) Duncklee; his grandchildren, Paden Ridgeway (Chloe), Morgan Ridgeway, Bridget Duncklee, and Micheal A. Duncklee; his great-grandchildren, Patrick Harris and (expected) baby boy Ridgeway; his sisters, Roseann Hansen (Gilbert dec.) and Elsie Goodell (Norman dec.); his brother, Jerry Duncklee (Joyce); and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael D. Duncklee, and his grandson, Trey Ridgeway.
