Late last summer, a campaign began to raise $200,000 for renovations to build a new, larger and more accessible Postville Medical Clinic. Over $173,000 has been raised to date for this project leaving just $27,000 to make the goal so the renovations can begin.

The new clinic location will be located in the old Upper Explorerland building, just to the west of the current Postville Medical Clinic. The main push behind this project is the lack of space for the growing number of patients at the clinic each day plus room for new providers that are beginning to see patients.

Both Hannah (Gesing) Kelly, Nurse Practitioner, and Mason (Hermeier) Kerian, Nurse Practitioner, are new family practice health care providers that have joined the Postville Clinic staff in the last few weeks. Hannah and Mason provide a full scope of family medical care for patients of any age. They are both accepting new patients. Plus a new family practice physician, Dr. Akinboboye, will also be starting to see patients in the Postville Clinic this coming summer.

In addition, another Behavioral Health provider, Angela Taylor, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, has joined the Postville Medical Clinic as well, working with Tara Fink, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, to ensure the Postville Community has mental health care provided at least one day each week. Patients can self-refer themselves to see either Angela or Tara.

With these additional providers, the need for more space is even greater. The new clinic expansion will allow the clinic to once again take walk-in patients and scheduled appointments will move along more quickly allowing more patients to be seen each day.

The hours the Postville Clinic will be open will also expand in the next few weeks, opening earlier in the morning and remaining open all day without closing for lunch, thanks to these additional providers.  These new hours will be announced as soon as they go into effect.

The renovations for this new Postville Medical Clinic are ready to begin when the $200,000 goal is met.  Gifts can be made out to the Veterans Memorial Health Care Foundation and mailed to 40 First St. SE, Waukon, IA  52172.
