Jane Angela (Cronin) Butler, age 88, of Carver, MN, formerly of Waukon, died peacefully Friday, February 20, 2026, at Carver Ridge Senior Living, Carver, MN. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date yet to be determined at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Waukon.
Jane Angela Cronin was born January 6, 1938, to Joseph and Florence Cronin in Chicago, IL. At the age of 12, Jane and her family moved to Waukon. Jane attended Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and High School, graduating in 1956. Following graduation, she attended Mount Mercy School of Nursing in Dubuque where she received her registered nurse degree in 1959.
The following year, June 18, 1960, Jane married Bob Butler in Waukon. In the years following, Jane and Bob traveled to relocate for Bob’s job with W.T. Grants, taking them to Cedar Rapids, Lincoln, NE, Des Moines, Wichita, KS, East Alton, IL, Terre Haute, IN, Greendale, WI, and finally relocating back to Waukon in 1973, where Bob owned and operated Butler’s Variety. Jane worked for many years at Veterans Memorial Hospital as an RN, following which she went on to co-direct the cardiac rehab center, and she also worked as an orthopedic nurse for Dr. Lyons. More recently, Jane worked for a few years also at Northgate Care Center.
Jane loved to travel and was fortunate to visit Italy 12 years ago with two of her dear friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, playing cards with her group of wonderful friends in Waukon (including several trips to Chicago and a lovely trip to Florida), golfing, reading, baking, and volunteering at St. Patrick’s Church and School, Meals On Wheels and the hospital auxiliary.
Jane is survived by her four children: Mary Beth (Matt) Drew of Pewaukee, WI, Kim (Carlos) Marroquin of Carver, MN, David (Jennifer) Butler of Hannibal, MO, and Amy (Matt) Garrett of Mesa, AZ; six grandchildren: Joshua Drew, Michael (Sara) Drew, Alison (Patrick) Ebsen, Amelia (fiancé Ryan Paul) Marroquin, Sydney (Josh) Allen, and Skylar Garrett; six great-grandchildren: Eden and Remington Drew, Christian and Logan Ebsen, and Harrison and Indie Drew; her sister, Jill (Bill) Maslowski; her brother-in-law, John Rofrano; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Bob; her parents, Joseph and Florence Cronin; her mother- and father-in-law, Dale and Maude Butler; and her sister, Mary Rofrano.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carver Ridge Senior Living Center in Carver, MN, Lifespark Hospice, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Jane will be remembered through the wonderful stories shared amongst her many friends and family.
