Hall of Fame induction for former ACSD teacher/coach Deb (Kaune) Tweedy ...

The family of long-time Allamakee Community School District teacher and coach, the late Deb (Kaune) Tweedy, accepted the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union (IGHSAU) Basketball Hall of Fame Award on her behalf at halftime of the Class 2A State Tournament Championship Game Saturday, March 7 at the Casey’s Center in Des Moines.

Playing for West Central High School during her high school career, (Kaune) Tweedy helped the Lady Blue Devils to consecutive State Tournament appearances in 1971 and 1972, leading the entire State Tournament field in scoring with 189 points in four games while guiding West Central to a third-place State Tournament finish during her senior season in 1972, including a 70-point performance in the Blue Devils’ 91-90 semifinals loss to eventual State Champion Roland-Story in that season grand finale.

The Class of 2026 IGHSAU Basketball Hall of Fame Class also included former Iowa City City High graduate and Iowa State University career scoring leader Ashley Joens and Cedar Falls High School graduate Amy Swisher, who became the University of Northern Iowa career scoring leader during her collegiate career.
