Waukon High School 2014 graduate Marcus Weymiller delivers message of pursuing dreams and raising the standard at annual Meet the Team Night

Waukon High School and the Allamakee Athletic Booster Club hosted the annual Community Appreciation Meal Membership Drive and Meet the Team Night at Waukon High School Tuesday, August 18. In addition to the meal and membership drive, the 2026 Waukon Indian fall sports teams were introduced and all in attendance were treated to a motivational message from Waukon High School alum Marcus Weymiller, who presented a challenge to local student-athletes of raising the standard in everything they take part in, while he also outlined a four-step process to help accomplish that feat - a process that helped him achieve some of his own lofty goals in life.

Weymiller is a 2014 graduate of Waukon High School, who helped the football Indians to a Class 2A State Runner-Up finish in his senior season and also competed at the State Track Meet during his high school career. He also went on to play football at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), where he graduated summa cum laude in 2018 with his Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Administration before completing his Juris Doctorate degree and graduating with Highest Distinction from the University of Iowa Law School in 2022. Weymiller is currently an Associate Attorney for the Faegre Drinker Law Firm in Des Moines.

“Your record is 0-0, you’ve got a clean slate, a blank page, and the history books have yet to be written,” Weymiller began his message of raising the standard. “And the thing is, you get to hold the pen and write the next chapter. So, I ask you, what do you want this year to look like, what’s your dream? How do you want to raise the standard for Waukon? Because that’s how success starts, that’s how cultures change, and that’s how standards are raised. They start by someone sitting down and intentionally thinking about what they want things to look like. Things won’t just happen. You’re not gonna just stumble on to a championship, you’re not just gonna happen into the best culture ever; it’s gonna take work and effort and intentionality to make it happen.”
