Waukon football senior Michael Schulte (#75 at right) creates a hole for sophomore Mitchell Snitker (#8 at left) to breeze through for part of his 100-yard rushing effort in the Indians’ 30-27 Homecoming win over Waterloo Columbus Friday, October 2. Snitker racked up 107 yards and one 10-yard touchdown on 17 carries, caught three passes for one 20-yard touchdown and 45 total yards, and also had one solo and three assisted tackles in the win. In addition to aiding Snitker and the Indians’ other offensive efforts, Schulte also wrapped up two solo tackles and four assisted stops on defense, including two assisted quarterback sacks and one solo tackle for a loss of yardage. The Waukon football survived a dormant second half to outlast the visiting Sailors of Waterloo Columbus for a 30-27 Homecoming victory Friday, October 2. The Indians had rolled up 22 points in a productive second quarter to bolt to a 30-12 halftime advantage, but then silent on the offensive side of the ball for the entire second half, holding off a late Columbus charge during that same timeframe and surviving a potential game-tying field goal that missed its mark in the game’s final 1:20. The Homecoming victory improves the Indians to a 5-1 overall record that bettered to a 2-1 mark in Class 2A District 3 play. The Tribe will head to New Hampton this Friday, October 9 to take on a Chickasaw team yet undefeated against District 3 opponents but sporting a 4-2 overall season record after a 40-13 victory at Oelwein this past Friday, October 2.

Kee cross country team competes at Jesup Invitational

The Kee cross country team competed in its largest meet so far this season, taking part in the Jesup Invitational Tuesday, September 29 that featured 30 teams, 25 of those being able to post team scores. The Hawks did not have enough runners in any of the evening’s races to compile a team score.

Kee football team falls to West Central in 62-14 Homecoming loss

Kee football senior Logan Flack makes his way through a hole created by the blocking of junior Brock Colsch (at left) and senior Jed McLimans (#34 at right) in the Hawks’ 62-14 Homecoming loss to West Central Friday, October 2. View and find out how to purchase this photo and many more by clicking on the Photo Galleries link.

The first two offensive possessions for the Kee football team in its Friday, October 2 home game with West Central looked as if it would be a happy Homecoming for the Purple and Silver, as the Hawks marched down the field for a pair of touchdowns and a 14-8 early advantage over the visiting Blue Devils. But, the final three quarters of the contest proved otherwise, as those first two Kee drives would end up accounting for a majority of the Hawk offensive production in the ballgame, while West Central established that same early pace but carried it over into the game’s remainder on the way to a 62-14 Kee defeat.
Falling to a 2-4 overall record, 2-2 in Eight-Player District 4, the Hawks hit the road this week, playing at Springville this Friday, October 9. The Orioles have a 2-5 record on the season, including a 1-3 mark in Eight-Player District 4 play after coming off their first district win, 47-30, at Central City this past Friday, October 2.
