Grace Erickson

Grace Louise Erickson, 88, of Farmersburg died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader. Funeral Service was held Friday, March 2 at Living Faith United Methodist Parish, Monona with Rev. Deb Parkison as the Officiant. Burial was at Giard Cemetery.

Grace Louise was born December 31, 1929 near Rossville to Sankey George and Minnie (Haman) Van Gorder. She was educated at Jefferson No. 8 Country School in Allamakee County and Waukon Public School. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Methodist Church in Waukon.

Grace was united in marriage with Albert Berdine Erickson, Jr. August 12, 1944 by Rev. Paul Kitterer at the Peace United Church Parsonage in Elkader. To this union two children were born. She was a member of the Giard Methodist Church and United Methodist Women for over 50 years. Grace volunteered at the Farmersburg Meal Site and belonged to several card clubs and was very active in church activities.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, December 10, 1996; her parents, Sankey and Minnie Van Gorder; her granddaughter, Denise Lange; her grandson, Larry Lange; two sons-in-law, Ray Taylor and Albert Keenan; two brothers, Milton Van Gorder and Leslie Van Gorder; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Grace is survived by her son, Albert “Lee” (Barbara) Erickson of Farmersburg; her daughter, Carol Keenan (Duane Foltz) of Lansing; three grandchildren, Tim (Debbie) Lange of New Albin, Julie (Dan) Albertson of New Albin and John (Dyonda) Erickson of Calmar; her granddaughter-in-law, Joy Lange of Lansing; her sister, Ida Mae Schultz of Garnavillo; her brother, Robert (Geneva) Van Gorder of Evansdale; her sisters-in-law, Norma Erickson of Farmersburg and Viola Erickson of Elkader; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, Ray Rose, Scott (Sophie) Rose, Joseph Rose, Robin Moore, Kimberly Shepherd and Tracey (Will) Everman; and several step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great-grandchildren.

Leonard-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Monona assisted the family with arrangements.
