Kee football team undefeated at home, makes State Play-Offs for sixth consecutive season

The Kee football team had its 2014 season brought to a close where half of Iowa’s high school football teams in the Eight-Player classification wished they could, meeting a majority of its team goals in the process. The Hawks played to a 6-3 regular season record that included a 5-0 mark at home and 4-3 District 4 record to earn State Play-Off qualification for the sixth consecutive season, ultimately having that play-off journey ended by second-rated and undefeated Janesville in the opening round of postseason play to finish the season with a 6-4 record.

“We went undefeated at home and qualified for the play-offs for the sixth consecutive year,” Kee football coach Chad Winters said. “We always talk about playing in the postseason and protecting our home field.”

Kee’s three regular season losses all came to the three teams that finished in front of them in the final District 4 standings and also made the Eight-Player State Play-Off field. The losses suffered by the Hawks on the scoreboard - especially those suffered in three of their final five games of the season - may very likely have been a product of losses suffered in team personnel due to injury.
