The Waukon boys basketball team played to an undefeated week in a busy schedule of three games to extend its current winning streak to four games since the holiday break. The Tribe opened the week with back-to-back home triumphs, 70-39 over Kee Monday, January 5 and 67-49 over Crestwood Tuesday, January 6, before pulling out a 59-58 home thriller over Prairie du Chien, WI Saturday, January 10.
“We’ve talked to the guys about not being satisfied,” Waukon boys basketball coach Jed Hemann said. “We expected to play better after the holiday break. We have been playing better, but these are not the best games we will have all season.”
Improving their overall season record to 7-3, the Indians were slated to begin this week with back-to-back road games, Monday, January 12 at Spring Grove, MN and Tuesday, January 13 at Oelwein, followed by a home contest against top-five rated Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 16. The Tribe will then play at Charles City Tuesday, January 20 before hosting Decorah Friday, January 23.
