The Waukon girls basketball team battled through its busiest week of the season, playing four games in a matter of five nights this past week. The end results of that busy week started off well for the Indians with a 68-52 home win over Spring Grove, MN Monday, January 26, but got progressively worse, as the Tribe fell at New Hampton Tuesday, January 27, 54-48, suffered a 58-49 home loss to MFL/MarMac Thursday, January 29 in a game rescheduled from earlier in the month, and then surrendered a 52-31 loss at home to Class 3A sixth-rated Crestwood after playing the highly-regarded Cadettes to just a two-point halftime deficit.
Now holding a 6-12 overall record, 3-8 in the Northeast Iowa Conference, the Indians were next scheduled to play at Caledonia, MN Monday, February 2 before traveling to Oelwein Friday, February 6 and then wrapping up their regular season schedule at home against Prairie du Chien, WI Tuesday, February 10. The Indians will then open postseason tournament play Saturday, February 14 at Dyersville Beckman, beginning at 7 p.m.
