Waukon track boys finish third at Frostbite, fourth at home Early Bird


Waukon boys track senior Adam Benzing lunges for the finish line to help the Indians’ distance medley relay crew edge out Postville for third place at their own Early Bird Invitational Thursday, April 2 in a time of 4:03.42. Benzing also helped the Tribe’s shuttle hurdle relay team to a fourth-place finish with a clocking of 1:08.40.

The Waukon boys track team was finally able to get its 2015 season underway, competing in a pair of meets this past week that ultimately allowed the Indians to get their outdoor season underway as scheduled. The Indians finished third in the seven-team Frostbite Relays hosted by Sumner-Fredericksburg High School Tuesday, March 31 before hosting their own Early Bird Invitational at Waukon High School Thursday, April 2, where the Indians placed fourth out of seven teams on their home track.
The Indians were scheduled to compete at Decorah Monday, April 6 in the first of two meets hosted by the Vikings in the next week’s time. They will then take part in the Postville Invitational Thursday, April 9 before returning to Decorah Monday, April 13 and then competing in the New Hampton Invitational Thursday, April 16.
