Fast-rising country music stars from different decades will be the featured grandstand entertainment for the 162nd Allamakee County Fair

A pair of quick-rising stars from different decades will be sharing the grandstand musical spotlight at the 162nd Allamakee County Fair scheduled for July 15-19 in Waukon. Chris Cagle, a self-labeled "redneck rock 'n roller" who took country music by storm following the turn of the century and is making a more mellow return to the country music scene these days, will headline the grandstand stage Friday, July 17. Country music newcomer Dylan Scott will be the opening act for Cagle, looking to make an early imprint on country music as he gets his career underway.

CHRIS CAGLE
After bursting on to the country music scene during the opening decade of the new century, Chris Cagle drew back from his musical interests a bit to begin a family. His love for music has called him back to the stage, but his love for family also keeps him grounded on what his musical interests truly are.
That initial decade of his rising country stardom produced two gold albums and a dozen hits that climbed their way up the country music charts. Fans may remember his lone number-one hit "I Breathe In, I Breathe Out" and other softer-side productions, such as "Laredo," but Cagle is also well known for turning things up a bit with such popular story-tellers as "Chicks Dig It" and "Let There Be Cowgirls."

DYLAN SCOTT
Dylan Scott is a relative newcomer to the country music scene, himself, but has the drive and desire to be on stage ingrained in his blood. His father played guitar and sang harmony in the 1970s and 1980s with country artists Freddy Fender and Freddy Hart.
With early influence by Merle Haggard and George Strait, and claiming the late Keith Whitley as his "musical role model," Scott got an early start on keyboard and acoustic guitar before hitting the stage during his high school years with the southern gospel trio 11th Hour. His recent debut album, self-titled "Dylan Scott", features such songs as "Makin' This Boy Go Crazy," "Hurtin' In the Morning" and "Mmm, Mmm, Mmm."

MORE GRANDSTAND
In addition to that musical entertainment, local competitors will also get the opportunity to perform in front of fair-goers again this year in each of the other four grandstand events planned for this year's fair. Local truck and tractor enthusiasts will put the power of their machines on display in the Wednesday, July 15 Truck and Tractor Pull, with the Thursday, July 16 Motokazie and Sunday, July 19 Tough Truck Contest also providing local drivers a chance to thrill the grandstand crowd in some fast-paced competition on two and four wheels.
Rodeo action will be featured again this year Saturday, July 18, followed again by a free concert being scheduled for that Saturday night following the rodeo. The northeast Iowa country music group "Stampede" out of Independence will take to the stage in the open area between the grandstand and the dairy barn to provide fair-goers some free musical entertainment.
