The Kee softball team competed in one of its busiest stretches of this season’s schedule, playing 10 games in a six-day span and putting seven of those games in the win column for a current season record of 9-4. The Hawks opened the week with six straight wins to extend an early-season win streak to eight straight games, including doubleheader sweeps at Central Elkader, 4-0 and 12-0, Monday, June 1, and at home against New Hampton, 5-0 and 11-1 in six innings Tuesday, June 2, and Starmont, 8-0 and 12-0 in six innings Thursday, June 4. The Lady Hawks’ win streak was brought to an end at the two-day North Fayette Valley Tournament, where Kee suffered 4-1 losses to both Class 1A top-rated AGWSR and Class 4A ninth-rated Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, June 5 and then split two Saturday, June 6 games by falling to Class 4A West Delaware, 6-1, and defeating Class 3A Monticello, 16-9.
The Kee diamond dwellers were scheduled to play a Tuesday, June 9 non-conference contest at Crestwood before back-to-back home Upper Iowa Conference doubleheaders with Sumner-Fredericksburg, Tuesday, June 10, and South Winn, Thursday, June 11. Kee will then hit the road for games at West Central, Monday, June 15, at North Fayette Valley, Thursday, June 18, and at Benton Community, Friday, June 19.
