The Kee baseball team battled through a winless week that ended up being a flurry at week’s end. A Monday, June 29 home doubleheader with MFL/MarMac ended up being postponed to Friday, July 3, where the Hawks suffered a sweep by the Bulldogs by scores of 11-8 and 5-2. Prior to that make-up game, Kee was also swept at home by Class 3A Crestwood Thursday, July 2 by final results of 8-3 and 12-8.
Currently holding a 9-17 overall record, including a 6-8 mark in Upper Iowa Conference play, the baseball Hawks were originally scheduled to travel to Edgewood-Colesburg Monday, July 6 and Wapsie Valley Tuesday, July 7 to wrap up their regular season, but had that July 6 date rained out and moved to July 7. Kee also recently added another pair of varsity doubleheaders to its schedule to finish out this week, playing at Nashua-Plainfield Wednesday, July 8 before bringing its regular season to a close Friday, July 10 at home against Riceville.
The Hawks will then begin postseason tournament play Tuesday, July 14 at Jesup against Wapsie Valley in a game scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
