The Waukon volleyball team got its 2015 season off to a very busy start with two dual matches and a weekend tournament in the Tribe’s opening week of competition this past week. Just one of those first eight matches of the Indians’ season ended up in the win column, however, as the Tribe netters opened the season with a match victory at home over Postville Tuesday, September 1 by scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-16 and 25-16. The Indians then opened Northeast Iowa Conference play with a sweeping home loss to Crestwood Thursday, September 3 by scores of 26-28, 21-25 and 24-26 before splitting two matches and being swept in four others at the Mabel-Canton Tournament played Saturday, September 5 in Minnesota.
The Indians will play in the annual Kepros Tournament hosted by Crestwood High School this Saturday, September 12 in Cresco before hitting the road for a Northeast Iowa Conference match at Oelwein Tuesday, September 15 and then hosting their own home tournament Saturday, September 19. A Tuesday, September 8 non-conference home match with MFL/MarMac has been rescheduled to Monday, September 28 due to the Bulldogs double-booking that original competition date.
