Waukon football team off to 3-0 start after 40-28 road victory at Crestwood

The early-season roll for the Waukon football team continued through the Indians’ final non-district game Friday, September 11, with some generosity by the host Crestwood Cadets aiding that cause early on. Three consecutive Crestwood fumbles were turned into a 22-0 Indian headstart within the first 13 minutes of the ballgame enroute to the gridiron Tribe playing on to a 40-28 victory.
The Indians have managed a top-five Class 2A ranking with their successful start to the season, and sit atop the Class 2A District 3 standings as the district’s lone undefeated team after Center Point-Urbana was blasted by North Fayette Valley, 35-0, to suffer its first loss of the season this past Friday. The Indians will open their District 3 schedule this Friday, September 18 at home against Dyersville Beckman, who comes off a 43-12 district-opening win over Oelwein this past Friday.
