Word for Word

by Rev. Steve Oden

It seems that any more, every day on the calendar is designated to specifically recognize or bring awareness to something. Some are definitely more important than others. A new and very unique one will start November 17, and it will be observed henceforth until Jesus, our savior, returns. November 17 will be known as W.W.P.A.D., the acronym for World Whipping Post Awareness Day. Isaiah’s prophetic ministry spoke of this event 800 years before it would come to pass. So really the only thing new about this is the awareness that is being restored to the Body of Christ in the last 150 years.
The whole chapter of Isaiah 53 is about what and why Jesus Christ the Messiah, our “suffering servant,” went through all that He did for us. Isaiah 53:5 “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Jim, and by His stripes (blows that cut in) we are healed.” WWPAD is designated for Christians around the world to call special honor to what our Savior Jesus Christ has done to set free those diagnosed with diseases of the body, soul and spirit (including birth defects). As believers in Jesus, we declare to the world that our God and His words to us concerning bodily healing applies also to those with birth defects, and that our God is trustworthy and deserving of our faith.
Red will be the color of choice to wear on this special day in honor of the high price that was paid by King Jesus in His shed blood.
World Whipping Post Awareness Day is a wakeup call to the Body of Christ and a notice that the suffering of Jesus at the whipping post (His suffering right before the cross) has provided us the power and authority to set the captives free from ALL diseases, as well as genetic defects.
“All things are possible to him who believes;” “nothing is too difficult for Him.” Jesus paid an extremely high price for our spiritual, mental, emotional and physical healing. We give God glory and honor by exercising our faith to reach out and receive the fullness that He has secured for us by His blood.
On this day (and every day) we can do something that will change destinies and fulfill the will of God to celebrate what Jesus did with His life on that day. We can help others find the freedom that Jesus secured for them at the whipping post and on the cross. The power of Jesus to heal can reach the chromosomal level to reverse birth defect and bring wholeness to adults and children alike. This resurrection power of God is present on earth in His people, followers of Christ. We are now His heart, hands and feet to a suffering world.
This day for World Whipping Post Awareness Day, November 17, was selected in honor of Erika Blake, born on this day to Dawn and Curry Blake, general overseers of John G. Lake Ministries. The birth defect that Erika was born with sparked a quest of truth and knowledge in Biblical healing for her parents. Because of their quest, subsequently many have found freedom in bodily healing. May you never look at the whipping post of our Lord the same again.
