Letter to the Editor: We need a leader to navigate us out of this mess...

To the Editor:
To start with, just a little humor for a quick laugh:
I just received an audit on my tax return for 2012 back from the IRS, and it puzzles me. They are questioning how many dependents I claimed. I guess it was because of my response to the request: "List all dependents". I replied: 12 million illegal immigrants, three million crackheads, 42 million unemployed people on food stamps, two million people in over 243 prisons, half of Mexico, 535 persons in the House and Senate, and one useless president.
Evidently, this was not an acceptable answer. I keep asking myself, "who did I miss?"
We need a leader to lead us out of this political correctness mess. Forty-nine million people on food stamps, that's a disgrace. We need to bring back the Works Progress Administration (WPA) and put people back to work - fixing our streets (Waukon and most towns would like that), bridges and schools, building terraces and ponds to preserve our land. Working people are happy people and feel good at the end of the day when they can see what they have accomplished. I think it's a crime to hand out money to people just to get their vote.
Change the subject a little. We need all bills to stand on their own, no attachments. Many good bills have been spoiled by attachments. Start running our country like a well-run business and we'll have happy people pulling together. The liberals like to pit the rich against the poor, men against women, black against white, etc. Sharpton and Jackson are specialists in this area. They have promoted deceit and unrest that lead to destruction of business, burning buildings and are very harmful to communities.
The USA is morally bankrupt and that must be fixed before we can really move ahead. You should be concerned.
Kindest regards and God bless,

Ozzie Quandahl
