PHOTO CONTEST
We are still looking for local photographers to participate in the FSA photo contest! Please submit photos that illustrate the agricultural community and depict life in Allamakee County.  One photo will be chosen for display at the Iowa State FSA Office in Des Moines.  Please submit photos that use 5-pixel or better quality.  Photos should be emailed to Rachel.bjerke@ia.usda.gov or brought to the office at 635 9th St NW, Waukon, Iowa.  Please identify the location the photo was taken and include that in your email or on a label on the back of the photo.  Please note the deadline to submit photographs is quickly approaching – July 31, 2016.

FSA County Committee Election—deadline for nominations is August 1st!
Note this opportunity for all farmers, including women, minorities and beginning farmers. The FSA office is seeking nominees to fill a spot on the local FSA County Committee.  Nominees and voters must reside in one of the following townships: Waterloo, Union City, Hanover, French Creek, Union Prairie and Makee.  Nomination forms must be postmarked or received in the Allamakee FSA Office by close of business on August 1, 2016.

MPP-Dairy
Dairy producers who made the decision for “buy-up” insurance coverage for the MPP-Dairy program in 2016 are reminded that premiums for the 2016 coverage are due by September 1st.   Also, all participants in the MPP-Dairy are encouraged to stop in at FSA and make their 2017 coverage decision.  The minimum coverage is $4.00 at 90% of the pounds.  An administrative fee of $100 will also be collected at the time of 2017 sign-up.

Marketing Loans
Grain that is under loan, or “sealed” as many farmers call it, must be repaid or released for sale prior to moving the bushels out of storage for sale or feed use. Unauthorized disposition results in possible penalties and administrative actions.  Remember to “Call Before You Haul” and we can discuss your options and forms that you may need to sign. Phone the FSA office at 563-568-2148, extension 2.
