ON TO STATE!! Waukon, Kee CC to be represented at season grand finale

The Waukon boys cross country team and Kee girls cross country team will both be represented at the 2016 State Cross Country Meet Saturday, October 29 at Fort Dodge.
The Waukon cross country boys qualified for that season grand finale for the third straight season in championship style, winning their Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Monticello behind the individual championship finish of senior Tyler O'Neill and top-five individual finish of senior Austin Day - both of whom also qualified as State Meet individuals.

Kee girls cross country sophomore Katie Brennan also qualified as an individual for the State Meet at the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet at Cedar Falls, finishing just within the top-15 qualifying individuals with a 14th-place finish. Brennan's individual effort led the Hawk girls to the very brink of total team qualification, as the Lady Hawks finished fourth out of 20-plus competing teams, just beyond the top-three team finish required for team State Meet qualification.

Full details of all the State Qualifying Meet efforts and upcoming State Meet competition will be available in the October 26 edition of The Standard. You can subscribe to The Standard's print edition or e-edition by clicking here.
