The Waukon girls basketball team looked to be riding a post-holiday wave of momentum, adding a third consecutive win early in this past week before building a double-digit second half lead in its fourth game since the new year began. That early win was a 46-43 comeback triumph over North Fayette Valley Monday, January 9 before the Tribe had that comeback table turned in suffering a 62-55 loss at home to New Hampton Friday, January 13.

Holding a 5-7 season record, 2-4 in Northeast Iowa Conference play, the basketball Tribe was also scheduled to host Prairie du Chien, WI Tuesday, January 10, but had that game postponed to Monday, January 23 due to winter weather. The Indians were scheduled to make up a January 3 home game with Decorah Monday, January 16 before playing back-to-back games, Thursday, January 19 at home against South Winneshiek and Friday, January 20 at Oelwein. The Indians will then make up that Prairie du Chien postponement Monday, January 23 before hosting Class 3A fourth-rated Crestwood Tuesday, January 24 and then playing at Class 4A 11th-rated Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 27.
