Waukon girls track team wins own Early Bird meet, finishes fifth at New Hampton
Three-time senior winners team up with double-winning pair ... Waukon girls track seniors Lanci Bulman (at left in above photo) and Regan Wasson (at right in photo below) were both part of three winning relay events at the Indians’ own home Early Bird Invitational Tuesday, April 11, teaming up with fellow senior Claire Beyer (accepting hand-off from Bulman in left photo) and junior Lauren Elliott (taking hand-off from Wasson in right photo) all together for one of those wins and separately in two other relay victories to help the Indians to the team championship in the home event. The four speedsters pictured above teamed up for a sprint medley relay triumph in 2:00.92, with Bulman, Beyer and Wasson also joining forces with freshman Ellec Armstead for 4x100 gold in 55.40 seconds and Bulman, Wasson and Elliott also teaming up with senior Grace Blocker for a win in the distance medley with a clocking of 4:38.28.
The Waukon girls track team found home, sweet home this past week in its pair of meets, the track Tribe winning its own Early Bird Invitational Tuesday, April 11 with a whopping 154 team points. The Lady Indians traveled to New Hampton later in the week, Thursday, April 13, to finish fifth.
The Indians were next scheduled to travel to Crestwood Tuesday, April 18 and then to the North Fayette Valley Invitational in West Union Friday, April 21 before preparing for their own Indian Relays home invitational Tuesday, April 25 and then competing at MFL/MarMac Thursday, April 27. Waukon Early Bird ...
The Indian track girls were less than gracious hosts at their own Waukon Early Bird Invitational Tuesday, April 11, bettering all other teams in the meet’s six-team field in the final team scoring. The Lady Indians scored third-place finishes or better in 17 different events at the meet to rack up 154 team points for their own invitational championship.
New Hampton Invitational ...
The Waukon track girls competed for a second time this past week, traveling to New Hampton Thursday, April 13 for the co-ed Chickasaw Relays. The Indians managed a pair of runner-up event finishes and half a dozen third-place efforts to pace themselves to 74 team points and a fifth-place finish in the final seven-team standings.
