Kee softball team enters West Delaware Tournament as lone undefeated team in the state of Iowa, ends up as consolation champion in otherwise undefeated week

Winning streak of nearly a year comes to an end, but UIC winning streak of two years continues

The Kee softball team entered this past weekend as the lone Iowa high school softball team yet undefeated on the season. Unfortunately, that streak of wins - which stood at 17 games to start this season and actually dated back nearly a full year to a string of 33 consecutive victories since last season’s Decorah Tournament, which is coming up this weekend - came to an end in this past Saturday’s semifinal round of the West Delaware Tournament on the way to the Hawks finishing third in the 16-team event with three wins in four games.

Prior to the end of that streak, and the beginning of a new one, the Hawks continued their Upper Iowa Conference (UIC) winning streak of more than two years in length, sweeping Edgewood-Colesburg by scores of 12-1 in five innings and 12-0 in four innings Wednesday, June 14. The last team to defeat Kee - North Fayette Valley June 18, 2015 - was also scheduled to host the Hawks Monday, June 12, but rain postponed that UIC doubleheader to Tuesday, June 20.
