Kee baseball team wraps up regular season with split of two final double-dips

The Kee baseball team brought its regular season to a close with a split in each of its two final dates on the playing schedule. The Hawks opened their final week of the regular season with a split of a home doubleheader with Maquoketa Valley Monday, July 3, posting a 5-1 victory in game one before suffering a 1-0 defeat in the nightcap. Those splitting ways continued in Kee’s final regular season date played at Luther College in Decorah Thursday, July 6, the Hawks defeating Riceville by a 14-4 result in six innings before falling to West Fork by a final score of 7-2.

The Hawks wrapped up their regular season with a 22-10 overall record, including a 13-3 mark to place second in the final Upper Iowa Conference standings. The baseball Hawks were next scheduled to begin postseason tournament play Tuesday, July 11 at home against Nashua-Plainfield, with further details of the Hawks’ postseason being printed in a shaded box elsewhere on these same Sports pages in the print edition and e-edition of The Standard.
