Scarecrow entries: Six entries, some of which are pictured in the top photo, took part in the Scarecrow Contest hosted by the Midwest Veterans of America during Waukon Corn Days Saturday, August 19. All participants received a Scarecrow medal created by Epic Wear of Waukon and presented by Ozzie Quandahl of Midwest Veterans of America. Entries were submitted by Hailey and Dakota Bechtel, DJ. Tallest Stalk of Corn contest winners: A total of 14 entries from two states were submitted for the Tallest Stalk of Corn Contest hosted by the Midwest Veterans of America during Waukon Corn Days Saturday, August 19. Pictured in the center photo, left to right, representing the contest's top entries are Blair Hanson of Waukon, who won first place with an entry measuring 12.5 feet; Tyler Halverson, representing his father, Alfred Halverson of Waukon, who won second place with an entry measuring 9.7 feet; and Jim Magner of Midwest Veterans of America, accepting the plaque for third-place winner Doug Oswald of Wauzeka, WI for his entry measuring 9.5 feet. Longest Ear of Corn contest winners: A total of 12 entries were submitted for the Longest Ear of Corn Contest hosted by the Midwest Veterans of America during Waukon Corn Days Saturday, August 19.
