Public invited to kick-off meeting for Allamakee County Housing Study

The Allamakee County Housing Needs Assessment Countywide Task Force will be holding a Kick-Off Meeting for an Allamakee County Housing Study to be conducted over the next nine months. With input needed from all areas, all residents of Allamakee County are invited to this initial meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 20 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) Waukon Center, Room 113. Those attending are asked to RSVP to Allamakee County Economic Development Executive Director Val Reinke by emailing aced@mchsi.com or calling 563-568-2624.

This initial meeting will include an introduction as to why the study is being done, a review of the desired outcomes from the study and ensuing planning, an outline of the scope, timeline and process the study will include, discuss perceived challenges and opportunities, outline a contact hierarchy for communities and entities involved, and map out the next steps in the process. The housing study is perceived as a tool with multiple uses in future economic and community development, as well as serving as a snapshot of the current housing situation within the county and what challenges or benefits that current situation offers.

Those unable to attend the meeting but wanting to be involved should contact Val Reinke by emailing aced@mchsi.com or calling 563-568-2624.
