More history podiums dedicated in Lansing ...

During Lansing's Sesquicentennial celebration and Kee High School's Homecoming weekend September 22-24, five additional history podiums were dedicated throughout the community. Podiums are placed on each block of downtown Main Street describing the opposite side of the street. Two podiums are also on the corner of Front Street and Main Street describing the bridge and south Lansing. Area families' donations, along with funds from the Allamakee County Community Foundation, have made the podiums a reality. More podiums are planned for the future. Pictured above surrounding one of the podiums are representatives of some of the sponsors of the existing podiums, including: Left to right - Craig White, representing the family of Willard and Arlene Kerndt; Jim Kerndt, representing  the family of Tom and Pat Kerndt of Lansing; Rick Welsh, representing the Lloyd and Betty Welsh family of Lansing; Curt Snitker, representing the podium sponsorship in loving memory of Mary Carroll; along with Lansing Mayor Mike Brennan and Allamakee County Community Foundation Coordinator Betty Steege. Another podium was sponsored in loving memory of Harold and Grace Verdon by their grandchildren. Individuals or groups who wish to sponsor further podiums planned for the future should contact Craig White at Main Street Lansing by calling 563-538-9229. Photo by Susan Cantine-Maxson.
