Belva Becker

Belva Alicia (Hosch) Becker, 89, of New Albin died October 18, 2017 at Thornton Manor Nursing Home in Lansing. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, October 20 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, New Albin with Rev. John Moser as the Celebrant. Inurnment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Albin.

Belva was born February 18, 1928 to Peter and Inez (Woods) Hosch. She grew up in New Albin and was a graduate of New Albin High School in 1946.

Belva married Henry “Hank” Becker April 8, 1947 and they raised two children in New Albin. She worked at New Albin Savings Bank for many years. She was known throughout the area as a fine seamstress and sewed clothing for herself and doll clothes for her grandchildren. She crocheted many afghans and hundreds of kitchen towels. She was most proud of the 97 beautiful quilts she created over the years, each hand quilted with perfect stitching. Her family will also remember her homemade bread and famous caramel rolls.

Belva is survived by her son, Robert (Nancy) Becker of Prairie du Chien, WI; her son-in-law, Daniel “Joe” Meehan of Holmen, WI; her grandchildren, Trina (Dwight) Lenz of Holmen, WI, Angela (Josh) Wagner of Wauzeka, WI and Juli (Heath) Smith of Prairie du Chien, WI; her great-grandchildren, Derick, Allie, Brett, Cody, Landon, Briar and Quinn; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her daughter, Donna “Susie” Meehan; her brothers,  Leon, Orval and Donald; and her sister, Dorothy.

Thornburg-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lansing assisted the family with arrangements.
