Phyllis Snitker

Phyllis L. Snitker, 85, of Rossville died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, November 27 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Tim Rupert officiating. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery, Waukon.

Phyllis LaVonne Snitker was born December 18, 1931 in the Hickory Creek area of rural Monona, the daughter of Henry and Iva (Ames) Snitker. She attended Rossville Country School, Waukon High School and later received her GED.

February 18, 1948, she married Leonard Junior Snitker at the First Presbyterian Parsonage in Waukon. They farmed together on a farm a quarter of a mile west of Rossville. Phyllis also worked at Northern Engraving in Waukon for 39-1/2 years, until it closed in 2008.

She was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder and was active in the ladies' organizations. Phyllis was also a member of the Women’s Bowling Association. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling, crocheting, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her children: Terri (Glenn) Krueger and Greg (Shirley) Snitker, both of Waukon; a daughter-in-law, Jane Snitker of Waukon; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard, who died in 2003; a son, Michael; a grandson, Jason Berg; a great-granddaughter, Addison Jane Snitker; a sister, Marjorie Ridgeway; a brother, Reed Snitker; and two nephews, Carles Moe and Reed Snitker, Jr.

Honorary casketbearers were Kari Beth Krueger, Kasha Larson and Ashley Snitker. Casketbearers were Kris and Ethan Krueger, Jeremy, Jason and Justin Strub, and Andy Snitker.
