Frances Bollman

Frances L. Bollman, 78, of Waukon died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 1 at 11 a.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon, with Pastor Sue Klimstra officiating. Burial will be at Sixteen Cemetery, rural Monona. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, November 30 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Frances Loretta Bollman was born March 4, 1939 in Luana, the daughter of Carlton F. and Helen L. (Hamm) Jones. As a very young girl she lived in a variety of places as the family moved for her father’s work. Frances attended the Sixteen rural school and graduated from Waterville High School.

June 13, 1958, she married LeRoy C. Bollman at the Monona Methodist Church. Roy and Fran farmed in the Monona area during 1959 and 1960. Fran worked at the button factory in Lansing and then for many years at Northern Engraving in both Lansing and Waukon, retiring in 2007.

Clamming, mushroom hunting, playing cards and working jigsaw puzzles were some of her favorite pastimes. Her homemade bread and rolls, chicken noodle soup and other baked goods were family favorites she loved to share. She loved country music and Fran and Roy enjoyed a couple of special trips to Branson, MO and Nashville, TN. Above all else, she loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children: Joan (Lennie) Shurtleff of Waukon, Donald (Kristy) Bollman of Waterville, Cindy (Neil) Landt of Luana, Sue (Terry) Grotegut of Waukon and Robin (Jeff) Jones of Monona; two nephews and a niece that she helped raise along with her own children: Quint, Kale and Kim Freilinger; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Barb (Ed) O’Connell and Connie (Duane) Leuenberger.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy, who died in 2008; two sons-in-law, Maurice McGeough and Joseph Stone; twin granddaughters, Charity and Chasity McGeough; a great-grandson, Shawn Hughes Jr.; three siblings, Lois Jones, Cleo Ludvik and Paul Jones; and her mother- and father-in-law, Lawrence and Helen Bollman.

Honorary casketbearers are her granddaughters: Heather Goeke, Kayla Grimm, Niki Guese, Samanthia Jefferson, Megan Kelly and Casey Moen. Casketbearers are her grandsons: Cody, Jake and Jason Bollman, Scott and Shawn Hughes, Christopher, Drake, John and Luke Jones, and Cyrus and Maury Landt.
