Tanner Walker

Tanner Patrick Walker, 21, of Luana, formerly of Postville, died December 4, 2017 at Floyd County Medical Center, Charles City. Funeral Services were held Saturday, December 9 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville with Rev. Lynn Noel as the Officiant. Burial followed at Postville Cemetery, Postville. Memorials in Tanner's name may be made to Postville Dollars for Scholars.

Tanner was born August 11, 1996 to Patrick and Denise (Bugenhagen) Walker at Mayo Health in La Crosse, WI. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Tanner graduated from Postville High School in 2014 and attended Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, where he was enrolled in the lineman program. After lineman school, Tanner worked for North Central Line Setters in Alta. He was currently at Missouri Valley Apprenticeship, working for MJ Electric since June of 2017.

He loved life and enjoyed fishing with his dad and friends. He also enjoyed bow and shotgun hunting, every year he looked forward to deer camp in Hardin with the guys. Anything that involved being outdoors brought great joy into his life. Tanner was a dedicated Vikings fan and loved watching any type of sports. Tanner especially loved being with family, his girlfriend of two years, friends and his dog, Harley.

Tanner is survived by his parents, Patrick and Denise Walker of Postville; one sister, Brandi (Bill) Van Gorp of Waukon; the love of his life, Gretchen Hanson of Luana; and their dog, Harley; two nieces, Hayden and Stella Van Gorp; one nephew, Jackson Van Gorp; his maternal grandfather, Don Bugenhagen of Luana; his maternal grandmother, Linda Bugenhagen of Postville; his aunts and uncles, Pam (Doug) Auchstetter of Rockford, Russ (Rose) Walker of Mason City, Kathy Cook of Charles City, Gail (Darwin) De Vries of Charles City, Denise Leuchtenmacher of Postville, Mark (Sabrina) Walker of Postville, Josephine (Ethan) Bredlow of Clear Lake, Craig Bugenhagen of Luana, Kyle (Rachel Housker) Bugenhagen of Luana; and many cousins.

Tanner was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clyde Walker of Charles City and Grace “Sue” Walker of Postville; and one uncle, Kevin Bugenhagen.

Schutte-Grau Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Postville assisted the family with arrangements.
