State Representative Kristi Hager (R-Waukon) has announced that she will not seek re-election to the Iowa House of Representatives in 2018. First elected in 2016, she represents House District 56, which includes Allamakee County and most of Clayton County. She plans, instead, to run for Allamakee County Supervisor after serving out the remainder of her existing legislative term, which ends January 2019.

“It has been an honor to serve the people of Allamakee and Clayton counties in the Iowa House over the past two years,” said Hager. “During my time in the Legislature, I have learned a  great deal about working together, making tough choices, and putting the priority needs of my constituents first. I think we made some much needed reforms in education funding, and I am excited about the legislation coming forward around tax reform, addressing mental health concerns and increasing flexibility in education funding. Together, we have made Iowa stronger and made our state a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
