Curtis Dean Selberg, formerly of Waukon and Decorah, passed away peacefully in his home in Rosenberg, TX March 20, 2018 following illness. Curt will be buried at a later date at Dunham Grove Cemetery in rural Fayette County.

Curt was born on the Selberg family farm near Waukon December 20, 1938 to parents Walter H. and Vivian (Kurth) Selberg. He received his grade school education at Ludlow #3, a one-room country school. In 1956, Curt graduated from Waukon High School.

The following year he married Marjorie Nolting. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Mark, Brad and Brian. They were later divorced. Curt married Jananne (Jan) McLeese Mullan in 1967. They have one daughter, Michelle (Mickie) Engrav. She and her husband, Robert (Bob), live in Texas, and after retirement, Curt and Jan moved there to be near them. The Engrav grandchildren, Annika, Greta and Tait, brought so much joy to their ‘Bapa’, and he always enjoyed their visits. They all survive him in Texas.

Curt spent his adult life driving tractors, school buses and Chevrolet cars. He was transportation director in the Decorah School District when he retired and was very proud of that. He liked restoring and painting antique tractors and had a great interest in classic cars. In retirement, Curt and Jan enjoyed traveling from their home in Texas to northeast Iowa to visit family and friends.

Curt is preceded in death by two sons, Mark Curtis and Bradley Dean; his parents, Walter and Vivian; his in-laws, Bob and Dorothea McLeese; his brother-in-law, Larry McLeese; as well as a brother who died at birth.

He is further survived by his brother, Keith (Pat); his sister-in-law, Jean (Bob) Mathis; and his nieces and nephews, Scott, Shane, Jay, Shawn and Jill, and their spouses and children.
