Kaitlyn Krambeer, a sixth grade student at Waukon Middle School and the daughter of Brad and Becky Krambeer of rural Waukon, is a Level 6 gymnast who recently competed in the Iowa State Meet held in Des Moines. Participants must qualify for that State Meet at one of the other meets hosted throughout the season.

Krambeer started gymnastics when she was just three years old. She has been competing in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympic program since she was seven years old and has qualified for every State Meet since she began her competition in that Junior Olympic program at the age of seven. She is a member of the Dolphin Gymnastics Team in Decorah, and in addition to gymnastics, she is also involved in basketball and softball.

Taking part in a number of competitions within this past year, Krambeer performs in events one might see during Olympic and other gymnastics competitions, including vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercises. Those competitions have matched her against the highest level gymnasts in the state of Iowa, including members of  Chow’s Dance and Gymnastics Academy, the team that trained Olympic gymnasts Gabby Douglas and Shaun Johnson.

Among Krambeer’s highest finishes within that elite competition are the following results:

• Fourth place on Floor at the Chow’s Winter Classic Invitational in January of this year in Des Moines;
• Fifth place on Vault and sixth place on Floor at the Field of Dreams Classic in Des Moines in early March;
• Fourth place on Beam and sixth place on Vault at the Hal’s Midwest Invite in Milwaukee, WI in February of this year;
• Second place on Vault and fourth place on Beam at the Winter Wonderland Invitational in Coralville in mid-February of this year;
• Third place on Vault at the Iowa State Meet in mid-March.

Krambeer has also qualified to represent the State of Iowa at the Regional Gymnastics Championships to be held in Minneapolis, MN April 21-22.
