Be aware of bicycle traffic Saturday ...

The annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Ride to Cure Diabetes charitable bicycle ride will be taking place this Saturday, August 11, starting in La Crosse, WI and riding through Minnesota and into Allamakee County along the Mississippi River and then back to La Crosse, WI. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and sponsors six 2018 JDRF Rides across the country, including the one beginning in La Crosse, WI.

As depicted in the dark shaded outline at left, the bicycle route through Allamakee County will start as, after leaving La Crosse, WI, riders come down from Minnesota into New Albin and follow State Highway 26 into Lansing and then continue south down the Great River Road to Lafayette Ridge Drive. Heading west on Lafayette Ridge Drive, bicyclists will travel to Lansing Harpers Road back to the Great River Road just outside of Lansing before heading back to New Albin on State Highway 26 into Minnesota and back to La Crosse, WI.

The Allamakee County Emergency Management Agency and area law enforcement want motorists and residents to be aware and courteous of the bicycle traffic that will be in the area depicted at left during the morning and afternoon of this Saturday, August 11.
