Plenty to cheer about ...

The Waukon cheerleading squad has had a very busy and very successful initial month of its competition season, claiming several top finishes among many other high finishes in three recent team competitions and ultimately culminating in another State Championship. Pictured above holding their State Championship trophy in the Class 2A Time Out Division of competition at that State Championship held Saturday, November 3 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines are members of the Waukon cheerleading squad’s Time Out team. Back row: Coach Lexie Bieber, Allie Bieber, Chloe Johnson, Angel Flack, Hally Holzwarth, Hailey Howes, Coach Amy Bieber. The squad also finished seventh in the Class 2A Stunt competition, that team consisting of Taya Duehr, Michaela Dehli, Hally Holzwarth, Chloe Johnson and Allie Bieber. Those high-end finishes continue the team’s recent State Championship success, as they also claimed the State Championship in the Class 2A Stunt Division and a runner-up finish in the Class 2A Time Out Division last year.

This season’s successful streak began with an initial competition at the Spartan Challenge hosted by the University of Dubuque Sunday, October 14, where the squad reigned supreme with championships in both the Class 2A Stunt and Time Out divisions (pictured in the photo at center). The squad then competed at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge at the Triton Challenge (pictured in the photo at bottom), where the Indians took second in the Class 2A Time Out Division and were recognized with the Outstanding Performance Award in the Stunt Division.
