Waukon girls basketball team extends new year winning streak with 44-35 victory at undefeated MFL/MarMac within trio of wins

The Waukon girls basketball team faced its busiest week of the season this past week, but added all three of those games to what is now a seven-game win streak since its only loss of the season just a month ago. The basketball Lady Indians began the week with back-to-back non-conference road wins of 61-29 at North Fayette Valley Monday, January 7 and 44-35 at the home of previously undefeated MFL/MarMac Tuesday, January 8 before finishing off the week with a 44-29 home win over New Hampton Friday, January 11.

The undefeated week improves the Indians’ season record to an 11-1 overall mark and a 6-1 mark in Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) play that keeps them now in a three-way NEIC lead tie with Waverly-Shell Rock and Crestwood. The Lady Indians were next scheduled to play Wapsie Valley at Upper Iowa University Thursday, January 17 in a game that will take the place of a December 1 cancellation with Don Bosco before the Lady Indians play at Oelwein Friday, January 18. The basketball Tribe will then play a pivotal week in those Northeast Iowa Conference (NEIC) standings when they battle the other two single-loss NEIC teams, hosting Crestwood Tuesday, January 22 before playing at Waverly-Shell Rock Friday, January 25.
